Matthew D. Brunner
President & Owner

Matt Brunner, president and owner of Chesapeake Capital, is responsible for all aspects of the business with a primary focus on portfolio investment decisions, portfolio management, investor relations and investment philosophy and strategy.

Mr. Brunner has over thirty years of diversified financial experience with specific expertise in real estate joint ventures and subordinated lending, mergers and acquisitions, financial analysis and modeling, strategic planning, structured financings and private equity administration. Prior to co-founding Chesapeake Capital Partners in 1997, Mr. Brunner was the chief financial officer and an equity partner of a regional venture capital firm with over $200 million under management. His professional experience also includes two years as the chief financial officer of a privately-held, venture-backed technology company and nearly eight years in various positions with the international accounting and consulting firm Ernst & Young. Mr. Brunner holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, in Economics from Gettysburg College, and a Masters degree in Business Administration from the Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and a certified public accountant.

Patricia A. Mchale
Office Manager

Patricia McHale joined Chesapeake Capital in 2003 as the office manager. She oversees the daily operations of the company and has primary responsibility for the billing and collections function of the Private Water and Sewer Assessments business. She works closely with other members of the team, helping them to develop strong customer relation skills. 

Ms. McHale has worked in the banking industry for fifteen years, serving in various capacities, including branch officer. Her duties included consumer and commercial lending, mortgage lending, customer relations and cross-selling products. A strong emphasis was placed on sales and customer relations. She was responsible for teaching a customer relations course to all bank employees.

Shannon M. Harbison
Financial Analyst

Shannon Harbison joined Chesapeake Capital in 2011 as a financial analyst while still completing her undergraduate studies. Her responsibilities include coordinating settlements for land acquisitions and dispositions, managing land development financing, bonding and budgeting for various projects in the portfolio and providing back office support for Chesapeake Capital’s growing portfolio of commercial buildings. She also works closely with Ms. McHale on the Private Water and Sewer Assessment business.

Prior to joining Chesapeake Capital, Ms. Harbison worked for a title company assisting with billing, policy preparation and file auditing. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration at Towson University.

Support Staff

In addition to the full time staff, Chesapeake Capital employs carefully selected part-time staffers to provide quality customer service and back office support for its Private Utility Assessments billing and collection business segment.

Furthermore, Chesapeake Capital maintains valued long-term relationships for out-sourced legal, engineering and construction management services.
